Established for 21 years, Lancrigg vegetarian hotel stands in an idyllic setting in the mountains 1/2 mile from Grasmere.
The highly acclaimed vegetarian food is prepared daily. Described as “international cuisine” much use is made of fresh and organic ingredients.
In the evening a four course meal is served (£27.50 per person). Vegans are catered for as are many special diets (please ask when booking).
There is an interesting and extensive all organic wine list with many organic beers and spirits.
The restaurant is informal, but with a distinctly romantic charm.
Teas and light lunches are served everyday to non residents.
Over the centuries and up until the present time, the house has provided much inspiration to artists, poets, writers and musicians.
The hotel itself provides comfortable accommodation, some rooms having four poster beds and whirlpool baths.
There are wonderful walks from the door and the Lancrigg grounds extend some 30 acres, including a 15 acre arboretum. This was a favourite haunt of William Wordsworth, who wrote his Prelude in Lancrigg woods.
